2010 Hairspray

In August 2010, Ravara Productions whizzed back to 1962 Baltimore to follow the story of larger than life teenager Tracy Turnblad. With all the right moves, tonnes of hairspray, a man dressed as a woman and a terrific musical score, it was certainly a huge success for Ravara, being our first major amdram production.

The production took place in the iconic "Andrews Memorial Hall" in Comber over the course of two nights, with over 500 audience members passing through the door. It was great for our first production to bring so much of the community together. A strong cast of over 25 were able to showcase their talents with a 10-piece band and a huge production crew. A number of reports after the show, including some from the local press clearly showed the audience appreciation and admiration for this first totally youth run production in the area.
